Waldorf Blofeld Editor

Waldorf Blofeld Editor

Postby birdsinbranches » Sat Jan 12, 2013 12:15 pm

Hi all,

Amazing app Fabien, thankyou for it. I bought my first iPad when I realised what I could do with the pick lists! To me, these make it the best out there.

This is the result, a single page editor template for the Waldorf Blofeld.

I tried to attach it to this post, but it is beyond the filesize limit.

Here's a demo video too 8-)

Cheers Fabien. :D

It's such a powerful tool - I can't code, but now I can still make really fast multitouch midi editors exactly how I want them. I would have paid way more for it to be honest!

I'd like to share the demo video (now linked in the above post) on the Waldorf mailing list - would you mind?
As you can see I'm pointing links in the description straight to your app page and this forum page.

May even attract a few more users :)

I bought the app specifically for this and it works nicely even without the camera connection kit. Just one thing, is it possible to send the current patch state of the blofeld to the app?

Many thanks for this page and awesome app either way.

cheers

First off, thank you birdsin branches, for sharing the fruit of your labor, and making the Blofeld SO much more accessible and enjoyable to edit! Kudos to you. I am noticing, for me (which means I may be being stupid=), that none of the sysex pick lists seem to be working/transmitting/being received by my blofeld. For example, Osc. Wave Shape, LFO wave shape, etc. Any suggestions? Obviously, that would be really great! Am i missing something?

But mostly wanted to express my gratitude and say thanks for sharing.

Cheers!

Haven't tried it yet but it looks fantastic. I like the overview you get, including the modulation matrix at a glance.

Any chance of being able to read a program from the Blofeld so that you can start with an existing program, and not just make sounds from scratch?

I don't know if TBMS can read and interpret sysex data, or of there is a sysex command that can be sent to the Blofeld which causes it to emit all parameter settings as CC:s.

Hi all,

Thanks for the kind words and sorry for the delay - I didn't get notified when you guys replied.

Unfortunately I don't think that there is a way to read a patch from the Blofeld. I'm not an expert, but from my research the Blofeld will only send a patch in a 'sysex dump' (not separate messages per parameter) and the app would need some custom code to decipher that - so we would need the app or the Blofeld to have an upgrade to make it possible.

@midiblee you're very kind considering it was only half working for you :)
I recommend you make sure you're using the usb connection for the midi - I don't think sysex is recieved over the midi ports in the Blofeld for some reason.
I also show my midi global settings in the demo video at the start, though the sysex lists should be working even without those settings...

Hope everyone is enjoying their Blofelds. Still my favourite synth ever!
